NSB FIRE DEPT – APPLICANT TESTING

October 21 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

The New Smyrna Beach Fire Department is now accepting applications for certified Firefighter/Paramedic candidates.  We have three positions available.

Selected qualified applicants will be required to take an Entry-Level Firefighter exam scheduled for the afternoon of October 21st or the morning of October 22nd.  Top scoring candidates will be invited to agility testing and a paramedic practical scheduled for the morning of November 1st.

**Provisional consideration will be extended to Florida Paramedics in process or interested in pursuing a Fire Standards Certificate of Compliance.**

Qualifications

Minimum standards firefighter II Certification per Florida Statutes, AND be recognized by the State of Florida as holding current, active certification as a Paramedic, per Florida Statute AND acceptance from the Volusia County Medical Director as a paramedic who has successfully completed the Volusia County EMS Protocol Exam AND the required clearing process by the Volusia County Medical Director AND meets all applicable continuing certification standards currently required by the Volusia County Medical Director as outlined in Volusia County EMS protocol.

Miscellaneous Information

Must successfully complete a background check, physical and drug screen. Tattoos visible to the public are permitted if they are not offensive in nature (eg. offensive – nudity, crude, vulgar or objectionable as determined by the Fire Chief or his representative). Tattoos should not extend beyond the wrist line and should not be exposed above the shirt collar. Exception to this would include a wedding ring tattoo on one hand.
